A Study on the Measurement and Comparison of average Turn Around Time (TAT) of the Claim Reimursement Process at Faridabadm Branch Office, Vipul Medcorp TPA

Objective : The present study focuses on understanding the TAT
of claim reimbursement process in the Branch office
of Vipul MedCorp, a TPA.

Methodology : The
data was collected from claim files settled in the branch office to understand
followed in the company. A comparison
between the existing and standard TAT (laid down by Vipul
MedCorp) was carried out by
like control charts. FGDs and interviews
were conducted to understand the loopholes and
gaps in the system and recommendations were provided to strengthen the TAT in
Findings : The control chart
analysis revealed a gross inadequacy between the standard and practiced TAT. The
result from the qualitative analysis revealed the following reasons behind inability
of the branch
to follow the standard TAT:
lack of human resource, lack of proper
training, employee dissatisfaction, no
term of reference (job
lack of coordination.
Recommendations : To improve the condition, various
recommendations were given, which if incorporated into the branch system, can bring enormous amount of change.
It would not only help in
decreasing the TAT of the claim
but would also lead
to enhancement in the whole branch output.
