Review of Trainings In State NRHM PIP of Selected States

  • Objective : Review the Training Plan for the year 2009- 2010 of selected states for appropriateness for need, efficiency of training, feasibility and it progress compared with previous year PIP.  Review the PIP of selected states on other defined parameters.

  • Methodology : This secondary data analysis Desk review the  last  two  years  NRHM  PIP  of  the  selected  states. Review the Status of the States on different parameters of trainings plan was taken up.
  • Findings : This  report  reviews  the  aspects  of  trainings under State NRHM PIP. The trainings planned for the year are they according to the National Training Strategy, feasible, problems faced has state taken steps to tackle them? States taken were Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, comparing them with various parameters of training of manpower. Maharashtra shows a better training plan   and   the   targets   set   for   the   year   are   feasible considering the progress given in the earlier PIPs. Recommendations are given after understanding the drawbacks in the PIP for training plan. No mention of how these trainings will help the health workforce meeting their aspiration. No integration of trainings not only of various other sectors, also of various trainings under maternal health, child health etc. eg. STI/RTI with ARSH. Trainings are not given according to the service provision
  • Recommendations : Good coordination between the health societies and other dept of health services SIHFW to be mentioned in the PIP. Training to be planned according to the health needs of the place and the health facilities Training should not be just knowledge transfer but also skill upgrading. Clear defined roles of each stakeholder involved in the trainings.
