Master of Public Health (Implementation Science)

Programme Overview

Master of Public Health (Implementation Science) has been specially designed to provide students with comprehensive interdisciplinary skills in implementation science in the domain of public health for LMIC. This programme combines IIHMR's excellence in public health education, and management with science and art of implementation to help students solve global public health problems.
The course has been created meticulously to emphasize the importance of contextual factors, understanding of the relationships between the research evidence to guide on the possible the intervention strategies available, the context of implementation with a mapping of facilitators and barriers for more effective adoption, scale-up, and sustainability of public health interventions. There is also focus on the introduction to the approaches needed to implement health programmes, interventions , and research findings in real-world health and social care settings, from a local to a global context.
The full-time MPH (IS) programme aims to develop students' competencies in the following core areas: Epidemiology | Biostatistics | Environmental Health | Health system and Policy | Health and Functional Management | Social and Behavioral Science | System and Design Thinking | Implementation Research | Implementation Science

Program Duration

The Master of Public Health (Implementation Science) Programme is a two-year full-time degree programme. The MPH (IS) programme 2025-2027 will commence from August 2025 at IIHMR University, Jaipur Campus.

Learning Pedagogy

The pedagogy in each course is selected judiciously, with an emphasis on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theory to the real-world situation in public health, management and its implementation. The programme is conducted with intensive teaching and learning methods which includes classroom teaching and capstone project (community immersive field work) in the first year and practicum related to implementation research during the second year.

Capstone Project

The MPH Capstone project is a graduation requirement for students in the Master of Public Health programme. It is typically completed in the second term of the programme and provides students with an opportunity to work on public health projects that are particularly interesting to them.
The components of capstone project include:

  • Review of an existing public health programme to identify enablers and barriers in the context of implementation research.
  • A proposal based on solving at least one of the implementation challenges identified from the review.
  • An oral/poster presentation summarising their capstone project.
Practicum

The practicum assignment is part of the second year of the programme and will be undertaken in the respective home countries of the students. The students will be working on their practicum assignment under the guidance of the assigned faculty and organizational mentors / advisor. The practicum requirement intends to engage students in research activities aligned with their career goals and activities that demonstrate the application of public health core concepts and critical thinking relevant to the student's area of specialisation in implementation research. Students will seek out activities that further apply their skill set of implementation research to understand the implementation problems of the public health programme and identify possible solutions by working with the stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria
  • A Graduate from any discipline, with 50% or above [45% or above for SC/ST/OBC-NC/ EWS/ PwD] aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • Candidates in the final year of the bachelor's degree may also apply if they would furnish evidence of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria by September 2025.
Selection Process
Stage I: Short-listing
  • Candidates should have qualified IIHMRU-MAT or having valid score in CAT/XAT/NMAT/MAT/ CMAT/ATMA /GPAT*/ CUET-PG
  • Short-listed candidates will be informed through email/SMS to their registered email address and mobile number.
Stage II: GD-PI Process
  • Short-listed candidates are invited to appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) through online/offline mode. GD-PI will be conducted to assess the candidate's learning aptitude, attitude, communication skills, and suitability for the University's MPH IS programme.
Final Selection

The following criteria will be used for the final selection of candidates:

  • Score obtained in (IIHMRU-MAT/CAT/ XAT/NMAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ ATMA/ GPAT* / CUET-PG).
  • Graduation Marks (Academic Performance)
  • Group Discussion
  • Personal Interview
How To Apply
  • Interested candidates shall apply through online mode by submitting the online application form at www.applications.iihmr.edu.in. Application fee is Rs. 1,000 which is non-refundable.
  • Registration Fee for IIHMR UMAT Examination - Rs. 500 only
  • Student will be allowed to take IIHMR UMAT maximum three times which includes first attempt in addition to two retake attempts. Fee of Rs. 500 will be applicable for each retake of IIHMR UMAT.
  • No Fee is applicable for rescheduling IIHMR UMAT or GD-PI
Important Dates
  • Last date of admission to the MPH IS programme is July 31, 2025 subject to availability of seats till that date.
  • No. of seats are limited for each programme. Admissions will be offered to selected candidates on first come first serve basis depending on availability of seats.
  • Date of commencement of programme is first week of August, 2025.
