Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme Overview:

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at IIHMR University is designed to build a strong foundation in public health theory and practice. This globally oriented MPH course equips students with essential skills to understand, evaluate, and manage health systems, programs, and policies across diverse contexts.

The program begins with intensive training in key areas such as Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Demography, Health Systems and Policy, Principles of Management, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Health Economics. These core subjects help students develop analytical and leadership capabilities needed to address complex public health challenges.

After completing the foundational modules, students can choose between two academic tracks. Learning Pedagogy

The Master of Public Health program at IIHMR University follows a student-centric pedagogy that blends academic learning with real-world application. Each course is thoughtfully designed to help students connect public health concepts with practical challenges in management and implementation. The teaching methods include interactive classroom sessions, group discussions, case studies, and hands-on assignments. During the first year of the MPH course, students complete a Capstone Project, while the second year focuses on a field-based practicum—ensuring strong exposure to real-time public health systems and operations.

Capstone Project

As a core component of the master’s degree in public health, the Capstone Project gives students the opportunity to explore a specific public health issue of personal or professional interest. It is designed to encourage independent thinking and practical problem-solving. The project allows students to apply the public health frameworks, tools, and strategies they have learned, making it an essential bridge between classroom theory and community-focused action.

Practicum

The practicum is a field-based assignment undertaken in the second year of the MPH public health program. Under the supervision of faculty and external mentors, students work closely with public health organizations, applying their knowledge to real challenges in community or field settings. This experience not only strengthens their understanding of public health in practice but also helps align their learning with future career goals.

For those pursuing masters in public health courses, IIHMR’s practical approach ensures they graduate ready to make a meaningful impact in the field.
