Program Description

M.H.A. (Executive) program is designed to equip working professionals in better managing hospitals functions with the knowledge, skills, and competencies, required to effective manage under the challenges of emerging healthcare environment. M.H.A. (Executive) is a 2-year program (Table 1.0), organized in four executive academic semesters. Each Semester offers prescribed number of courses/ credits, which are spread in 15-18 weeks of academic work. Our program design is innovative and blends technology in an innovative manner to enhance the effectiveness of classroom teaching and learning. In addition to the theoretical understanding, the learning in most of the courses are assessed through the degree of competency in the practical application of the concepts in a real-work environment. The learning outcomes, course-contents and andragogy is benchmarked with the standards provided by the relevant regulatory bodies as well as the leading universities nationally and internationally. The program also offers exit points with the option to earn a Post Graduate Executive Diploma in Hospital Administration (PGDHA-Executive) after successful completion of Semester I and Semester II.
The Master of Hospital Administration– Executive, abbreviated as M.H.A. (Executive) is a carefully crafted academic degree, in consultation with the leading academicians and practitioners across the globe. The program design is based on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The M.H.A. (Executive) program has been developed in line with the policy guidelines suggested by national and international professional bodies and other agencies in area of hospital management. The program offers great flexibility in terms of horizontal and vertical mobility through pragmatic credit transfer system. The program design is guided by IIHMRU philosophy of research-driven knowledge co-creation and learning. We are confident that the executives will find the program contents and andragogy quite engaging and flexible, contributing to high-quality executive development needs.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding about advanced concepts and theories used in the practice of hospital management;
  • Apply the management tools and techniques for effective management of hospitals;
  • Identify and formulate hospital and problems, requiring management interventions;
  • Develop strong and effective managerial competencies, required to lead and coordinate the hospital management related work with diversified groups;
  • Effectively gather and interpret the evidence in identifying and communicating the different hospital management related challenges in view of emerging contextual challenges;
  • Adopt and use the technology-driven tools and techniques in identifying, analyzing and solving the managerial problems in hospital management;
  • Act with strong ethical and moral orientation in hospital management and decision-making;
  • Solve the executive-level problems with a holistic perspective for the benefit of their respective teams, units, organizations and society at large.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

In addition to the specified POs, the student will also be able to:

  • Understand and analyze the specific managerial issues relating to hospital management;
  • Demonstrate ability in developing feasible alternative solutions to the managerial problems in hospital;
  • Creatively lead and develop the teams/ units; and
  • Act as a catalyst for sustainable growth through specialized executive abilities, as required for effective functioning of the units/ teams in hospital settings.

Eligibility for Admission

  • Admission to First semester M.H.A.(Executive) shall be open to the applicants who have passed the Bachelor's degree in Healthcare/Medicine/Life-Sciences or closely related disciplines from any recognized university or institution in India or abroad. The applicants must have at least three (03) years of relevant work experience.
  • For the prerequisite qualification earned from foreign universities, equivalence, as notified by the Association of Indian Universities from time to time, is mandatory. However, in case if no prior equivalence has been established by any other recognized bodies, the decision of the Equivalence Committee of the University shall be final in establishing the eligibility of the candidate.
