Dr. Anwar Parvez Sayed is a public health physician and global health leader whose career spans over 17 years working on health systems strengthening, infectious disease control, and the implementation of large-scale health programmes across national and international settings. Following his medical degree from Shivaji University, he pursued specialized training that included a Diploma in Tuberculosis Diseases, Master of Public Health, and PG Diploma in Infectious Diseases. His credentials extend to a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and a Doctorate in Global Health Leadership and Practice from the University of Washington.

Currently, Dr. Sayed serves as Senior Technical Advisor with the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) at the University of Washington. In this capacity, he provides technical assistance to Ministries of Health in India and other countries to strengthen HIV care, service delivery, and health systems. His previous experience includes working with the World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, where he supported antimicrobial resistance and TB/HIV programmes spanning 22 countries. Before that, he led I-TECH India as Country Director, overseeing national HIV programmes through strategic partnerships with the Government of India and global stakeholders.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sayed has made significant contributions to HIV programming. He played a key role in developing eight national HIV guidelines and led initiatives that have directly benefited over 500,000 people. His commitment to capacity building is reflected in his work training more than 4,500 healthcare professionals through national and regional programs. Additionally, he served as Clinical Associate Professor and Lecturer at the University of Washington, where teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development in public health became central to his academic contributions.

With his multifaceted background as a teacher, trainer, researcher, and global health practitioner, Dr. Sayed brings diverse expertise to the field. His professional interests span health systems strengthening, implementation science, infectious diseases, and global public health leadership—areas where he continues to drive meaningful impact.
