Professor

Dr. Sadhu is a Professor at the IIHMR University, Jaipur, and an adjunct faculty at Department of International Health, Johns Hopkins University, USA. He serves on the boards of numerous academic institutions and organisations of civil society. He also serves as the university's chairman of various administrative committees. He has extensive experience and expertise in the field of Public Health, Water-Sanitation, Nutrition, Development Management, Sustainable Development Goal, Panchayati raj institutions, Health Education, Community participation, CSR, NGO management and Institutional development. Since 1997, Dr. Sadhu has been teaching the MBA and MPH programmes' modules on strategic management, project management, managing non-profit organisations in the healthcare system, corporate social responsibility, rural health, water sanitation, hygiene and nutrition, and rural marketing. He has been supervising PhD, MPH, and MBA students since 2005. Prior to IIHMR University, he worked with Lupin HWRF, UNICEF, CAPART and civil society organisations. With more than 34 years of experience in backup he was consultant to World Bank supported project-WEMTOP, JICA, UNICEF, CAPART and other funding agency. Dr. Sadhu as a Project Director successfully implemented the integrated water, sanitation and health education programme supported by KFW, Germany of Rs 426 crores and successfully developed the institution model for sustainability. The model developed is now being replicated in similar nature of project. Since last 22 years, the community-based organisations are paying Rs 5.5 crores per year to Government as water tariff. He was Principal Investigators (PI) in more than 40 research projects and pioneer in developing the concept of State Resource Centre named Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) supported by GoI, GoR and UNICEF for the capacity development in water and sanitation sector at Rajasthan and developed and implemented the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and Water Security Plan as per NRDWP, GoI, guidelines at Rajasthan. The WASH in health project supported by UNICEF and NHM was implemented very successfully and now replicated in 15 States.
Dr. Sadhu has also led the water campaign of Jaipur divisions of Rajasthan and the Government of Rajasthan has recognized him for his excellent contribution. He is also the pioneer in developing the concept of preparing village water security plan in Rajasthan.
He has expertise in institutional development, strategic planning, capacity building and implementing research in Public Health, WASH in Health care, and in water and sanitation sector through participatory approach. He has also given input in the State Water Policy, State Partnership Programme of European Commission and Government of Rajasthan. He is among the pioneer with whose efforts Rajasthan has proposed first time the name of 23 Gram Panchayats for the Nirmal Gram Purashkar award honoured by President of India. At Churu he was instrumental in the construction of more than 40,000 sanitation units with bathrooms and soak pits. He worked as a consultant- Institutional Development Expert to Rajasthan Minor Irrigation Project supported by Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA). He has developed several training modules for Government officers, NGOs representatives and PRI/ WUA members. The modules developed by him are being followed at Government training institutions. He trained 40 faculty of IMTI, Kota and Bikaner, GoR in Participatory Training Techniques. He is also involved in the training of Jpiego and other organisations. He has been a member of various committees of the Government of Rajasthan such as Steering Committee of Water Resource Management, Apex committee of State Water and Sanitation, and several others. He is the author of several books, papers and reports related to public health, WASH, development management, community participation, institutional development, Gender, Devolution of panchayats Raj activities and others. He has organized several national and international workshops. He has often been invited to present papers and chair in different national and international workshops and conclaves. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards like Lifetime Achievement Award on community participants in WASH by IWWA, Titan Award in Sanitation, GoI, Swachhta Award by MoHR, Presidential award on sanitation by Goi and several other awards. His Academic Credentials includes PhD on “Water and Society” under the guidance of Prof. K.L. Sharma, Ex Vice Chancellor, Rajasthan University from Jaipur National University, Jaipur. Master’s degree in business administration from IMBE, Kolkata, Post-graduation in Rural Development from XISS, Ranchi and Diploma in Health System Management from Galileo College, Israel. He had also been trained at IRC, Netherlands in the water, sanitation, health and decentralized planning.
His framework of seven agilities— visionary, imaginative, analytical, involvement, executed, communicative along with monitoring and evaluation comprehensive assessment tool has created a new paradigm that bridges individual leadership in development and public health sector.
