Strategic Framework

Catalyzing the Change: A Strategic Framework for the School

The strategic framework visualizes. the role of the school to be catalytic towards optimizing the public health approach. The greater goal of the School is to work for the public good quintessentially. Thus, the mission will be to achieve this through building a competent public health resource pool, inculcating effective planning capabilities and adaptive capacities in the health workforce and contributing to building resilient health systems.
To achieve this, there is a need to seek and address some specific challenges and gaps:

  • Prioritizing public Health approach in terms of resources as well as interventions
  • Promoting quality research
  • Optimizing population needs, and
  • Creating visibility for public health actions.

It is proposed to develop 'Public Health acumen' in the healthcare workforce by preparing them for applied public health. Issues of public health importance are to be identified for research and evidence generation. Advocacy, networking, and proactive technical support and collaboration with key stakeholders would promote the culture of evidence-based practice to influence policy. Further, identification and promotion innovations with potential for scale up and sustainability would be attempted to strive for continuous improvement in approaches. These strategies will be delivered through four key channels of Research, Education, Training and Consultation, and Policy Advocacy which emerge as the verticals for the delivery of strategic interventions of the School.
