Dr. Mishra, with Ph.D. in Anthropology from Sambalpur University, Odisha, India is currently working in the capacity of Assistant Professor. His core specialisation is in biological and medical Anthropology and Public Health (Operation research and Implementation and applied research). The major area of interests include medical anthropology, rural development, Health System Research & Urban Health System, Reproductive & Child Health, Corporate social responsibility and Livelihood, Entrepreneurship development, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene.
Dr. Mishra has an experience of more than 23 years in development. After completing his Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Anthropology, he has worked with IIHMR Jaipur in different capacities of research, training, and academics. He has also facilitated the Government of Chhattisgarh (GoCG) to execute National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) as Project Director (In-charge) for six months, and as Management Information System Officer through USAID supported Health of The Urban Poor (HUP) Programme (2011-2015). Prior to this, over a professional career of 20+ years, he has worked in various capacities in 29 different research and implementation projects supported by international agencies i.e., USAID, UNICEF, UNFPA, DANIDA, SIFPSA etc. and many state governments of India. Some of the projects which sought global attention were UNICEF supported project on WASH in Health and Nutritional Rehabilitation Center (NRCs) in Madhya Pradesh (2016-2019) and National Family Health Survey, round 3 (2005-06), round 4 (2015-16), and round 5 (2019-21) for Rajasthan and Odisha State of India. He has also contributed to strengthen the health system through DANIDA supported project titled “Strengthening District Health System” in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh (2002– 2005) and managed the Technical Support Unit at Rajasthan State Aids Control Society (RSACS) as a Project officer of Strategic Management Unit in 2009. Broadly, his key responsibilities include providing strategic and technical support in improving and maintaining the quality standards of project and programmes by generating new knowledge. He has achieved significant experience in conducting Scientifically Qualitative and Quantitative Research in the field of health, education, and livelihood. These findings were published in many research articles such as in Scopus (3 nos), UGC care/Peer reviewed indexed (8 nos) journals along with book chapters in edited books, technical reports, and international conferences. All this knowledge is used in advocating policy dialogue among the policy makers in India and globe. He is also building capacity of the post graduate students in subjects like, quantitative techniques, data management and analysis, project management, research methods, watershed management and legal environment form anthropological and applied research point of view.
