Dr. Karthick Swaminathan
Dr. Karthick Swaminathan
Assistant Professor
Dr. Karthick Swaminathan is an academic and healthcare management professional with expertise in Quality Management, Patient Safety, Healthcare Operations, and Healthcare Analytics. He holds a full-time Ph.D. in Business Management with a specialization in Health Services Management from Pondicherry University, a Central University. He subsequently held a postdoctoral research position at the Indian School of Business, Mohali, where he contributed to a healthcare intervention project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Dr. Swaminathan teaches Quality Management and Patient Safety, Healthcare Operations, Healthcare Analytics, Statistics for Business Decision-Making, Patient-Centric Care and Experience Design, and Qualitative Health Research. He has also designed postgraduate elective curricula in Healthcare Analytics and Patient Experience. His research focuses on qualitative health inquiry, using phenomenological and grounded theory approaches to examine illness experiences and health inequities in North India. His research has been published in The Qualitative Report and the Journal of Constructivist Psychology. He also has manuscripts under consideration by Qualitative Health Research and in preparation for a special issue of Social Science & Medicine. He has served as a reviewer for Qualitative Health Research and Scientific Reports, published by Nature Portfolio.
Before entering academia, Dr. Swaminathan gained thirteen years of professional experience in healthcare documentation operations and quality systems, serving clients in the United States and the United Kingdom. He is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and a certified System Administrator for the Dictaphone iChart health information system, for which he received training in Melbourne, Florida, USA.
