Dr. Nutan Prabha Jain has overall 35 years of working experience in health sector conducting more than 50 research projects, training and teaching for health sector at national and international levels. Currently, she is working as Professor at S D Gupta School of Public Health at IIHMR University. She has a background in Behavioural Science and Public Health. She is a PhD in Psychology (Psychology of Deviance) from the Institute of Advanced Studies, Meerut University. Having professional experience working for health sector for almost a decade, after completing her doctoral work, she earned a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. Besides IIHMR, she has worked with national organizations like Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy and other Mycobacterial Diseases (under Indian Council of Medical Research), Agra, Council for Industrial and Scientific Research (CSIR), National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW) and National Institute of Public Co-operation and Child Development (NIPCCD), New Delhi. She leads Centre for Gender Studies as Director at IIHMR University; and has implemented Gender Champion Scheme successfully. From 2006, she is Member Secretary to Institutional Review Board at IIHMR till date. She holds the position Rank of Associate in the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, John Hopkins University, USA. In 2019, she earned Diploma in Community Mental Health for Psychologists: NIMHANS Digital Academy, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru. Mentored Maternal Health Young Champion – scheme supported by IIE/ HSPH, Harvard University; PG and PhD students from various Universities like Heidelberg, North Carolina, Oxford University, Bonn; Emory; and UNICEF India’s Internship Program - Knowledge Community on Children in India initiative. She has contributed research articles on gender, reproductive and sexual health, adolescent health, mental health, etc.
