Resultantly CSR is being seen in different way and its implementation is going to be challenging in this dynamic environment. Nationally and internationally new norms are emerging for CSR activities, implementation, and management in currant scenario. It is very important for businesses to see this as opportunity to develop business activity while conducting CSR as medium to market.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is evolving process, especially in times of Covid-19, is now seen as an ethical and smart way to conduct business, making corporate entities into socially responsible organizations, visibly contributing to the social good. Socially responsible companies do not limit themselves to using their resources to engage in activities that increase only profits. They use CSR to integrate economic, environmental, and social objectives into the company’s operations and growth. The concept of CSR has evolved over the years, especially in India - now the only country with legislated CSR directives.
With the Company Act, 2013 in our country, it will hopefully motivate organizations to undertake CSR initiatives proactively and seriously. Organizations are realizing that the government cannot alone uplift society and it needs help from businesses. Under this Act, most firms with sizeable business are required to shell out at least 2% of their 3 years annual average net profit towards CSR works. While many big companies have been actively engaged in CSR activities, but the number is still very low, and this new law will lead to a significant increase in the number.
The workshop is being organized for better understanding of the Post Covid-19 scenario of CSR activities, guidelines, and the act. The sessions in the workshop are being designed in a way that the new CSR professionals can understand the policy formulations future planning.
