Outbreak News
Outbreak Reporting Policy
Purpose
Timely and reliable outbreak information helps communities understand health risks and take appropriate preventive and protective measures. This webpage provides an overview of outbreaks of public health importance in India and internationally.
Sources and Verification
Information is collected from reliable sources, including government websites, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Information received from media and other sources is verified against authoritative sources before publication. This process may take an additional 24–48 hours. Readers should consult the official sources referenced in each report for the latest information.
Active reports are reviewed at least weekly. Updates are published when there are significant changes in reported cases, deaths, affected locations, public health response or outbreak status.
Archiving
An outbreak may be considered for archiving after at least two maximum incubation periods have passed since the last reported case or significant update, provided there is no evidence of ongoing transmission.
