Who Can Host A Student

Any organizations conducting health, hospital, pharmaceutical & development-­‐related work are welcome to host a student, including but not limited to local, state, and federal health agencies, healthcare systems, non-­‐profits, community-­‐based organizations, and international non-­‐governmental organizations and agencies.

Benefits of Hosting

  • Support for organization-­‐identified projects and needs;
  • Engagement from the School in conceptualizing project and providing technical assistance as needed;
  • Opportunity to mentor students and strengthen the future workforce.

Preceptor requirements

  • Knowledgeable about the project and able to guide and mentor the student throughout the process.
  • Able to commit time to supervise and provide feedback on the student’s work.

Sample Projects

  • Program Development, Implementation, & Evaluation
    • Analyze an existing program and collaborate with stakeholders to develop an action plan to increase effectiveness and advance health equity
    • Develop and facilitate a topic-­‐based training for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Policy
    • Conduct policy research and collaborate with policy and advocacy stakeholders to develop legislative policy recommendations.
  • Research & Analysis
    • Conduct a cost-­‐effectiveness analysis and present findings and recommendations to leadership.
    • Collect and analyze data on a public health issue and synthesize findings.
  • Strategic Planning & Organizational Development
    • Conduct key informant interviews with leadership and review literature to develop an organizational strategic framework and operations manual.
