People are not always rational decision-makers, and their behavior is often influenced by factors such as cognitive biases, social norms, and the environment in which they make decisions. Behavioural science explores the complex mechanisms behind human behaviour, revealing the determinants that influence our choices and behaviour. It uses concepts from fields like psychology, sociology, and economics to explain why people act in certain ways, frequently exposing hidden biases and tendencies. This understanding is crucial, especially when addressing "sticky problems" – complex challenges that persist despite traditional solutions

The importance of behavioural science lies in its ability to offer insights into why people act in certain ways, even when those actions seem counterintuitive. By grasping these insights, policymakers, program managers, corporates and various decision makers can develop more effective strategies to tackle persistent social development issues.
