Introduction
Problem Solving and decision-making are perhaps some of the few skills, that most people assume, come naturally to all. And why not? After all, from womb to tomb, every single individual makes decisions and solves problems, of varying complexity, of diverse perspectives, and in variegated ways.
However, the problems faced in the professional world and more so in a sector like healthcare, where human wellbeing is at stake amid the present crisis and wrong decisions can create chaos both at the personal and policy level, it is imperative that scientific methods and logical reasoning be applied to decision making for problem-solving. The people at the helm of affairs need to apply critical thinking by questioning beliefs and assumptions, controlling subjective distortions as well as identifying and navigating around the obstacles to effective decision making.
Programme Objectives
- To impart skills to enable participants to assess problems accurately.
- To scan the external and internal environment to identify the context of the problems.
- To share with participants major conceptual background and methods to generate alternative solutions.
- To identify different stakeholders and alternatives available with them.
- To identify and address obstacles to effective problem solving and consequently appreciate the barriers in decision making.
- To hone skills in monitoring and evaluating decisions on pre-determined indicators.

Healthcare and development personnel working at the different management levels, Government, Corporates, NGOs, and Funding agencies, and all professionals involved in problem-solving, decision making, and implementing those decisions will benefit from this programme.
Pedagogy
A mixed pedagogy involving lectures, videos, cases, and group exercises would be followed in an experiential learning environment.

Dr. Seema Mehta is a Professor at SD Gupta School of Public Health, IIHMR University. She is faculty incharge of MPH Programme - a cooperative programme of Johns Hopkins University and IIHMR University. Programme Fee
The programme fee for Indian participant is Rs. 24,750 plus GST (18% as applicable) and for International participant is USD 462 plus GST (18% as applicable). The programme fee covers tuition fees, background reading material, lodging and boarding.
Discounts
Early Bird Discount: Nominations received with payments on before 4-weeks will be entitled to an early bird discount of 10%.
Group Discount: Any organization sponsoring four or more participants to the programme will be entitled for a discount of 20% on the total fee payable provided that at least four participants attend the programme.
Maximum Discount: Organization can avail themselves of both the discounts subject to maximum discount of 20%.
Venue
The programme will be held at IIHMR University, Jaipur. IIHMR University is located near Jaipur International airport, Sanganer, Jaipur. The University campus provides a learning environment to the participants. The participants are welcome to use the library and recreational facilities at the campus.
Certification
A certificate of participation on completion of the programme will be issued by IIHMR University, Jaipur.
