Dr. Vimal Kumar Sharma

Adjunct Professor

After completing his MD from PGIMER, Chandigarh India in 1979 and having worked as a Project Psychiatrist for WHO collaborative research studies, he moved to UK. In 1986 he was appointed as Consultant Psychiatrist at Walton Hospital (Now University Hospital Aintree) in Liverpool. He completed his PhD in 1993 from University of Liverpool and worked as Senior Lecturer at Liverpool University between 1996 and 1999 where he successfully led the Liverpool Primary Care Mental Health Service Project. Dr. Sharma subsequently served as Medical Director and Director of Research for CWP NHS Trust, Health Technology Assessment Panel member for DH, Deputy Lead for the Northwest MHRN hub and Royal College of Psychiatrists’ examiner. He is also the Vice Chair of Global Rural Mental Health section of the World Psychiatric Association. International training teaching and research are his main area of work at the University of Chester.
