Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Health Care
Background
Healthcare services depend heavily on resources. Drugs, medical equipment, diagnostics and consumables together constitute as indispensable dimension of healthcare service delivery. Ensuring that the medical supplies arrive safely on time and in correct quantity is extremely important for optimum functioning of health systems. This online course is specially curated to cater to healthcare professionals and managers to equip them with the basic knowledge of the principles of healthcare logistics and supply chain management. The course will impart an overview of the key concepts of logistics, supply chain management, purchase and procurement procedures. The course will help develop understanding and skills to undertake important inventory control techniques like ABC and VED analysis, managing inventory, equipment, and drug supplies among the participants. The participants will also learn fundamentals of stores management and basic logistic and supply management at the facility level.
Course Objectives
- To develop an understanding of terms and concepts in logistics and supply chain management in health and describing process and procedures of procurement
- To explain inventory control techniques and develop competence of participants in undertaking the selective inventory control techniques.
- To instill knowledge of store management and explain methods for receiving, organizing, stocking , codification, and documentation of medical stores.
- To explain concepts of medical equipment management.

The course is specifically designed keeping in mind healthcare managers, doctors and nurses, state/ district level officers, executives of hospital and healthcare organizations, researchers and faculty of healthcare institutions involved in implementing / supervising health programmes.

Course Duration
The course is spread over 3 months (28 hours) from November 2024 - January 2025 with weekly 2 hours live classes and assignments.
