UNFPA and IIHMR University join hands for an international training programme on RHCS/FP

In 2014, UNFPA Asia Pacific Regional Office initiated the process of identification of suitable institutions in the region for capacity building in Reproductive Health Commodity Security and Family Planning (RHCS/FP). Based on the assessments, the Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) was identified as having the potential to act as a Regional Training Centre and to offer comprehensive courses on various aspects of RHCS/FP. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between UNFPA and IIHMR to ensure that training courses of international standards are regularly available on a range of topics related to Reproductive Health Commodity Security and Family Planning (RHCS/FP). These courses can address the learning needs of Government and Non-Government health officials working in the sector across the Asia Pacific region. With this background, in May 2016, UNFPA and IIHMR had a joint consultation to design and develop the course curriculum, training methodology, and course coverage for a two-week International Training Programme on Family Planning and Reproductive Health Commodity Security (FP/RHCS).

The primary objectives of the course are to understand the concept and application of RHCS and SPARHCS. Participants would be able to learn about leadership and managerial skills in enhancing the FF/RHSC program and sharing the country experiences.

Since, 2016, we have organized four courses which are as follows:

  • First Course - October 10-21, 2016
  • Second Course - October 23 to November 3, 2017
  • Third Course - November 19-December 30, 2018
  • Fourth Course- November 4-November 15, 2019
