About Center for Behavioral Sciences (CBS)

India has been showing remarkable progress on many social indicators. However, for sustained results it is important to understand the right holders perspective and ensure the strategies of government and partners are built around these evidences. In that context. Behavioural science approach becomes crucial to success, as the empirical study of how people think, decide, and act, with an emphasis on observation and experimentation.
Behavioural insights, which is the application of different principles of Behavioural Science, can play a significant role in policy-making. By incorporating knowledge from psychology, sociology, and cognitive neuroscience, policymakers can better understand how people make decisions and behave in various situations and align/ shape their programmes accordingly. Behavioural insights recognise that individuals are not always rational actors and are influenced by emotions, biases, mental shortcuts, and social norms. By applying these insights, policymakers can design interventions and policies that nudge people towards making better choices and achieving desired outcomes.
IIHMR University under partnership of UNICEF has established Centre for Behavioural Sciences. This Centre demonstrates our collective commitment to advancing social development through tailored interventions driven by robust social and behavioural evidence, insightful behavioural insights, and innovative human-centered design.
This Centre for Behavioural Science will lead the way in integrating and delivering cutting-edge research and pilot interventions propelled by behavioural science and insights. This will serve as a hub for research, solutioning, and collaboration, bringing together experts from diverse fields to tackle "sticky problems"—those persistent issues that traditional solutions have failed to resolve.
